And Then There Were Trees.

On a hot day like today (over 90 degrees in April!) it really makes me realize how much Los Angeles needs more shade trees. Yay for fresh&easy, the LA Conservation Corps and the South L.A. community planting trees last saturday. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought fresh&easy was only going to plant trees along the corner where the store was located. I was so wrong. We planted trees all over the community. Along side streets, in front of houses, along the commercial corridor basically all over the place. (Within a couple blocks radius.) I kind of thought it’d be weird planting trees in front of someone’s house, but people came outside and talked to us. It went a little something like this:

Resident: What are you guys doing? Planting trees?
Tree Planters: Yep. Shade trees.
Resident: Good. We need more of those.

Yes. Yes we do need more of those.

For those of you that don’t know. You can get a FREE shade tree planted in front of your house and or business. As well as call to recommend trees to be planted along a street or another public space.

Just call the LA Conservation Corps at 323.664.9196 ex 105

Do it. I got my free tree. Free is, well….free!

P.S. And for those of you who are looking for a job, the LA Conservation Corps is hiring.
